Do you have Photoshop and Illustrator, always open on your Mac? Do you dream in Pantone swatches, live for well-made garments and get excited by ticking things off lists?
If so, we’re looking for you—our next superstar Junior Product Designer! We need an organisational ninja, who can be an integral part of our design process, support our Senior designer and contribute to making awesome ranges. Someone who lives for brand DNA and is all about teamwork (sorry, no divas allowed).
We’re based in Port Melbourne (which means excellent lunch spots are just a hop away), and while the role is part-time, we do need a little flexibility from time to time.
About Us
At Goldie + Ace, we’re all about making baby and toddler clothes that not only look adorable but also stand the test of time. Our designs are inspired by our childhoods (hello, nostalgia!), and we take pride in producing high-quality, ethically sourced garments that can be worn, loved, and passed on. Think: clothes your little one will outgrow but never outwear.
The Product team? We’re small, fierce, and passionate about all things cute, cool, and durable. We get inspired by everything from our childhood wardrobes to what kids are into today. We have weekly one-on-ones, team meetings, and plenty of space to create great work.
Now, about the role…
We’re on the lookout for someone who’s eager to learn, grow, and help take Goldie + Ace to international heights! Reporting to our brilliant Head of Production & Design, here’s what you’ll be up to:
- Assisting the Product team with designs that are in line with our brand’s aesthetic and DNA
- Doing trend research and helping to develop new ranges
- Creating technical drawings in Illustrator (your tech pack game is strong)
- Attending fit sessions and offering your expert recommendations
- Managing submissions and strike-offs—because we love a good deadline!
- Collaborating in every step of the seasonal design process, from colour palettes and fabric selection to final garment design
We’re looking for someone who has:
- Technical garment knowledge (you know your fabrics, patterns, and prints like the back of your hand)
- Top-notch communication skills—both with our internal team and our suppliers
- Mastery of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Excel (you’re basically a design wizard)
- A cool head under pressure and a knack for meeting deadlines
- A keen eye for detail and the ability to spot a design flaw from a mile away
- Excitement for trying new things (yes, we’re talking about AI!)
And, ideally, you’ll bring:
- Experience in childrenswear (2+ years in a similar role, but if you’ve got the right attitude, we’re keen to chat)
- A tertiary education in Clothing Design
- Confidence in working autonomously in a fast-paced, agile environment
- Conceptual skills, creative flair, and a strategic design mindset
